My name is Lindsay. I’m a gardener and mom whose happy place is in my garden. I started my career as a Horticultural Technician apprentice and moved sideways to urban agriculture and ecological stewardship. My passion is food; I love growing it, eating, and preserving it – homesteading.
Being in the city is limiting, however. But with some imagination and flexibility, a modest yet fruitful lifestyle can be carved out. It’s not really homesteading without the animals, but it’s close enough for me.
For a lot of us, the excitement is all too easily brought to an abrupt end when the results of our first attempts are nothing close to what we imagined starting out. This blog combines the best (some average and not so great) exploits of my kitchen and garden curiosities, as I rejoice and commiserate with the highs and lows of urban vegetable gardening and urban foraging.
I hope you enjoy my blog, and I hope this site can offer you something to relate to. A garden is not always about utility, but rather growth, love, endurance, and a sacred place for the self.
P.S. I make grammatical errors of all kinds. Oh well.
